More than 1,000 teams will convene in Massachusetts this weekend for the annual GPS Memorial Day Soccer Tournament. The largest one-weekend soccer event in the United States kicks off with games in Lancaster, MA at 5pm on Friday and continues until champions are crowned on Monday afternoon.
This annual event, now in its 11th year, marks the conclusion of the Spring soccer season and offers players from U10 to U19 an opportunity to face off against top-notch competition from around the country. The Memorial Day Tournament offers an especially great opportunity for players looking to take their game to the college level. Roughly 200 college coaches will be in attendance at this year’s event hoping to find the next wave of talented players to fill their roster. The majority of games will be played in two locations; The Hopkinton YMCA Complex (12 fields) in Hopkinton, MA and the MYSA Complex (16 fields) in Lancaster, MA. However, games will be played at 36 beautiful turf and grass venues all around the state of Massachusetts throughout the weekend. Click HERE for field information and directions.
“We are incredibly excited to host over 1000 teams this weekend at the GPS Memorial Day Tournament,” said GPS Tournaments Director James Hamblin. “The event brings together some of the top competition in the Northeast, as well as representation from a number of high level college programs. Combined with great facilities, this should be a fantastic end of season experience for players, coaches and parents alike!”
All communications for the tournament will be done through the free BAND app, available for desktop, iPhone and Android devices. This will include schedules, rules, directions, and the ability to ask questions directly to tournament staff. Download the app by clicking HERE.
We’d also love for participants to share their favorite pictures and videos on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with the hashtag #GPStournaments throughout the event. We’ll be having a social media photo contest to give away a Playstation 4 (FIFA18 included) and an iPad for two lucky winners so make sure to enter by following @gpstournaments on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter and tagging us in your favorite photo from the event with the hashtag #GPStournaments or #GlobalPremierSoccer!
